The Ultimate Total Body Summer Workout
You have a great opportunity to take your workout outside and you have many different options when it comes to getting an outdoor strength training workout. I love to be on the water and the workout that gives me the most bang for my buck is Stand Up Paddle Boarding (or SUP). It is a low impact, full body workout that can be calming and meditative, and can also be exhilarating and intense for the mind, body, and spirit. From my head to my toes, every muscle seems to be working. Your legs and core help keep you balanced and stabilized. Your arms, shoulders, and back keep you moving. You’ll combine balance, strength, and endurance in this calorie burning workout. Your senses are heightened and you truly are “in the moment.”
Up and down the shoreline of Lake Michigan and at many inshore lakes you’ll find SUP companies giving lessons and renting boards out for the hour, ½ day, or day…you can even find yoga classes being taught in some areas.
